Diane Zielinski

So how did we get started?

"I love to give personal, handmade needlecrafts to people; they are really a gift from your heart," says owner Diane Zielinski. So, in October 2007, Diane was busy creating needlework pieces to give as gifts to family and friends at Christmas and, well, perhaps the following story is familiar:

Wife asks husband to assist in the separation of several long strands of threads from a skein of floss. The loving husband just wants to watch the game, but also wants a happy wife, so he dutifully holds his end. As usual, tangles and knots ensue.

"Ah Ha!" he says, "We can fix this pesky problem of tangling!" Viola! The solution that allows his lovely wife to separate multiple strands of any length, all by herself, AND without tangles and knots, is born.

Puffin and Company was created from this "Ah Ha" moment. We set about writing a patent and developing a beautiful and functional Thread Separator. We were thrilled when the patent was issued just a little over a year later, in February 2009. PATENT NUMBER 7,493,746. From that time we have grown to include a number of needle art and fabric craft tools, many ideas coming from the wonderful LNS customers themselves. The guiding principles of the business are to create beautiful designs, use quality materials, engineer the products for performance and deliver them at an affordable price.

Our beautiful hardwood alder pieces are precision cut with a laser in the USA. These are finished with a soft honey color and are the perfect compliment to our metal art embellishments. Combined, they are Pretty & Practical little luxuries! How great is that?

"It is so fun to design and create new and exciting, useful tools for our wonderful needle arts community," says Diane.

"Everyone should have a little needle art bling, don't you think?"
